Prenzel is a distillery and infusery that was established by Chris and Hugh Steadman in Marlborough, New Zealand in 1989.It began as a distillery of fine fruit brandies using abundant local fruit and a century old copper still imported from Alsace, France.  The Steadman’s passion for distillation saw them traveling throughout Europe learning traditional techniques and returning to New Zealand to improve upon them.

Hawke's Bay, New ZealandWhat began as an operation in a cherry orchard’s shed has flourished into a highly successful beverage and culinary company.  Prenzel now offers a large variety of tantalizing products.  Our broad range stretches from original fruit brandies, exquisite liqueurs, schnapps and decadent dessert toppings to delicious infused oils and sauces.

Prenzel on the Bay was the first franchise to open.  The Hastings tasting room opened in 1999 and proved to be so successful with the emphasis on ‘try before you buy’ that do date there are 12 tasting rooms throughout New Zealand.

The Prenzel range is still made in Blenheim, Marlborough, South Island.
